Transition from Pulse to Lightning

Transition from Pulse to Lightning

Last summer I made a big change, moving to Loughborough from London. After spending 3 years at London Pulse and living in London I decided to make the move to Loughborough. I loved playing for Pulse and had some amazing memories there. The girls around me were amazing, and they helped me improve my game so much. Living in London had its perks, especially when it was nice weather, and there was so much to do there! London really felt like home to me for 3 years, but it was time for me to explore a new journey.

I was so excited to join Loughborough given they are reigning champions for the past two years. I had also already played with a few people from the team, like Alice, Hannah and Beth; so, I felt confident that we already had those connections and could build on them. I was also really drawn to the fact that Sammy Wallace was joining the club, she is someone I have looked up to when watching the Suncorp Super Netball in Australia and I couldn’t wait to learn from her and play with her in the circle. But honestly, I feel as though I could learn from everyone! The whole team is packed with experience and fun, I can’t wait for everyone to really see that as the season continues. I really am surrounded by winners in this team; there are Commonwealth gold medallists, SSN champions and Super league winners.

Training is great and the standards are so high, I know I am going to be pushed so hard every session and the players demand so much of each other whilst also keeping it a fun and happy environment. I have loved the start of the season so far and can’t wait to keep building connections with the amazing athletes around me. I am inspired by amazing women every time I walk into training, and it makes me better on and off the court.

As for the lifestyle, it is a huge change moving from busy central London to a small countryside village in Quorn. I loved London for a few years, but the travel and cost of living did make it hard, and my family home is also in a small village, so Quorn really feels like home. I spend my very little free time on coffee dates and nice countryside walks, and being able to move in with my boyfriend here has made a huge difference in feeling close to home. There is a real family feeling at Loughborough, a lot of the staff have children and sometimes bring them to training which makes the environment so happy and relaxed. I just get the vibe that everyone is so close and so well looked after, and the support and staff are amazing. I’m in such a privileged position and I can’t wait for the rest of the season.
