Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement

Since 1855, Grays of Cambridge (Int) Ltd has established a worldwide reputation providing equipment, clothing and footwear for leading sports players, professional athletes and sporting tournaments. Grays owns the leading brands Gilbert rugby and netball, Gray Nicolls cricket and Grays hockey. The company has a long history as a leading innovative designer and manufacturer of premium sports equipment. Gilbert’s history dates back to the start of the game of Rugby, when William Webb Ellis in 1822 first picked up the ball at Rugby school.

Our head office is based in England but the company now operates in all countries around the world in conjunction with a number of long-established business partners.

Grays is committed to the highest ethical standards in the conduct of its business worldwide and we expect our suppliers to uphold the same values. Our ethical standards are based on the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) base code guidelines and our requirements not only cover modern slavery, but also our wider expectations in relation to ethical and responsible sourcing and manufacturing.

We will not tolerate modern slavery in our business or supply chains and take effective steps to meet this commitment. As part of our contracting process with suppliers, we insist our suppliers respect and follow applicable laws and regulations and  promote ethical decisions in all aspects of their business. Our policies are clearly communicated to all of our suppliers and each supplier is required to independently confirm they adhere to these. All our business partners are expected to have in place a system of ethics and compliance-related controls and management oversight that are appropriate for their size, complexity and exposure to ethics and compliance risks.

Grays is committed to promoting and maximising awareness of modern slavery risks across our organisation and supply chains. We encourage any concerns to be reported without delay or fear of detrimental treatment.

Our commitment to our customers is very clear, we will always treat people in our business and supply chain fairly and with the utmost integrity.

We decline to enter or continue business with any suppliers who fail to complete the required due diligence requirements or who fail to meet our standards. Any violation of these standards may, subject to any other contractual terms in place, constitute a basis for termination of the relationship with Grays.

This statement has been approved in April 2024 by the Board of Grays of Cambridge (Int) Ltd, the policy will regularly reviewed.
