Gilbert Netball partners Alzheimer's Research UK with limited edition orange netball
In support of the UK’s leading dementia research charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Gilbert Netball have released an orange netball as part of the #sharetheorange campaign, to help raise funds for life changing dementia research.
Watch some of the Vitality Roses talk about the link between an orange and dementia:
A brain with dementia can weigh around 140g less than a healthy brain, which is about the weight of an orange. Like other physical diseases, research will find a way to treat the diseases which cause dementia and keep people connected to their families, their worlds and themselves for longer.
Lucy Squance, Director at Alzheimer’s Research UK said: “We’re delighted to see Jaffa and Gilbert come together to support Alzheimer’s Research UK. We hope this limited-edition netball will inspire people to learn more about dementia, while helping to fund the ground-breaking research that will transform the lives of everyone affected by the condition.”
Richard Gray CEO Commercial at Gilbert Netball commented: “We are proud to be involved with such an innovative and exciting campaign - especially as we have had personal experience in dealing with Alzheimer’s in our own family for over 10 years now. It was great to team up with Alzheimer’s Research UK and Jaffa to create this meaningful orange netball - a real team effort that we hope will generate much-needed funds for dementia research."
Fran Connolly, England Netball CEO, added: “We are delighted to support Jaffa and Gilbert in their partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK. This limited-edition ball will not only help raise vital funds to further progress research and help find preventions and treatments, but it will also increase awareness of the condition and support people living with dementia.”
The limited-edition ball is on sale for £19.99 with the proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
